Indian Retail School celebrates PBOR's convocation day

Indian Retail School, India's first-of-its kind retail education and research center in association with Director General Resettlement (DGR), Ministry of Defence conducted a convocation ceremony for the specially tailored, Retail Management Course to equip Defence personnel with knowledge and skills to manage and operate retail business. This course is specially designed for Personnel Below Officer Ranks (PBOR).

Indian Retail School facilitated them to translate their existing competencies and values with the requirements of retail world. Honorable Major General SG Chatterji, VSM Directorate General (Resettlement) and Dr. Tarun Panwar, CEO, IRS graced the occasion with their presence where IRS announced the completion of another successful batch of Retail Management with 94 of the Personnel Below Officer Ranks students and conducted the Certificate Distribution Ceremony on 22nd May 09'.

This full time intensive programme was spread over 12 weeks for the PBOR's and included self study assignments, project work and practical on-the-job training. The objective of this programme was to prepare the Defence Personnel into “Retail Ready” by translating their skills suitable for the retail sector. It will also provide trained manpower, thereby attracting more talent in Retail with DGR and Corporate association.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Tarun Panwar, CEO, IRS said “It gives us immense pleasure on the completion of another successful batch of the course that gives a great opportunity for defence personnel to continue their winning streak even in the second battlefield. We ensure that we will continue to provide at par training for the defence personnel for their smooth transition into new and exciting careers”.

Director General Resettlement (DGR), Ministry of Defence said “Even though retail is a different arena the personnel would need the same energies, dedication, sincerity and punctuality that they had been showing in their current jobs. DGR has always been exploring new avenues and facilitating the retired personnel to excel in and retail is one of the most promising industries”
