McGregor S/S collection provides a naval look to men

McGregor's spring/summer 2009 menswear collection features seven themes divided into Sportswear, Casual and Distinction to tell a tale of action, recreation and nights on the town: from parading on the French Riviera in luxury linen shirts to parachuting in faded cargo trousers in the desert sands of the Sahara.

Sportswear
The sportswear line is based on three themes: The Chase, The Game and French Riviera.
• The Chase was inspired by the Charlie's Angels era in the early '80s with its exciting speedboat, helicopter and fast car chases. Fresh chequer and striped designs and the signature McGregor colours of red, white and blue define this collection's look. American classics such as button-down shirts, chinos, bomber jackets and club blazers are real eyecatchers.
• The Game is a sporty theme where the aggression and strategy of a rugby match come to the fore in a strong, masculine sportswear look. McGregor captures this energy by combining black/white and grey melee with bright colours such as yellow, purple and pink. Large letter and number logos create a unified team look. Sporty striped polo and rugby shirts are paired with high-sheen nylon jackets in this theme.
• French Riviera: sports meet promenade. This theme is awash in taupe, white and all the shades of blue reminiscent of the French Riviera. Fine luxury jumpers in splendid Breton stripe knit along with posh linen and floral design shirts give this theme southern French allure.

Casual
For a gentle faded look, this season's casual collection has two themes: Sahara Desert and Aix en Provence.
• Sahara Desert combines summery items with the beautiful neutral tints of the sweeping sands contrasted by navy blue, indigo and dark brown. This masculine and easy-going look features cargo shorts and army trousers, button-down shirts and faded Sahara jackets.
• Aix en Provence draws its inspiration from the lavender fields of southern France and old French cottages in the land of Alain Delon and Brigitte Bardot. Two-tone designs in chequers, floral patterns and stripes with soft pastels such as peach, blue, pink and mustard yellow are key to this theme. Ultra-soft stone-washed shirts and polo shirts are combined with sand-coloured chinos.

Distinction
The Distinction collection is based on two themes: Cruise and La Dolce Vita.
• Cruise's palette is appropriately soft and summery with pastel lilac and lavender, metallic blue, sea green and navy blue. This theme features subtle chic items such as luxury V-neck pull-overs and cardigans, fine cable-knit jumpers and coloured jeans while handsome sharp blazers and suits provide a naval look.
• La Dolce Vita brings Italy of the '60s back to life: good food, beautiful cars and gentlemen in stylish Italian suits. This atmosphere is reflected in a collection dominated by camel colours and sand tints accented with white, soft pink and light blue. The silhouette is sleek; single-breasted blazers and two-button jackets stand out in particular. Shirts with long pointed collars as well as wide spreads and two-button cuffs are part and parcel to this collection. The accessories – a silver money clip, loafers, cuff links, a luxury leather belt and a silk scarf – are becoming of today's distinguished man as well.
