Yeh Shen Ltd is launching and organising the 'World Fashion Design Competition and Award (WFDA) 2016', a design competition for fashion suppliers to showcase their innovative products to buyers in Hong Kong.

“Amid the changing patterns of fashion sourcing, suppliers nowadays take more initiative to provide buyers with designed products for selection as well as the flexibility and adaptability,” Yeh Shen said.

“This requires a stronger, more reliable, allied partnership between buying offices and suppliers,” a press release from the organiser added.

Six awards, including Fashionchic, Fashiondeco, Fashionfine, Fashionlean, Fashionpure and Fashiontech, will be presented to winning companies.

This will be awarded to those who address the best use of accessories and trimmings, fine or technical materials, environmentally friendly materials and advanced technology.

In addition to these, an 'Ultimate Winner of the Competition' award will be presented to the company that wins the most awards overall.

A special award, 'Country of the Year', will also be given to the representative of the winning country in recognition of their efforts in promoting the competition.

According to the company, fashion suppliers from all over the world are invited to participate in this international event.

“Young or individual designers are encouraged to work with the suppliers or producers to apply for the competition,” it informed.

Renowned designers, chief editors of fashion magazines, senior executives of sourcing and product development of fashion brands and retailers will be invited to judge.

All awards and winning items will be announced and their products displayed at the two-day Prime Source Forum, an annual event of the global fashion industry to be held from March 14-15, 2016 in Hong Kong. (AR)
