Celebrating designs, the Bengaluru Design Week (BDW) aims to create a meaningful interface for professionals in the design industry both in India and abroad. Beginning October 29, the festival will provide a peek into the delightful world of design in Bengaluru, its role in society and its impact on driving business and meaningful change in the modern world.

An initiative of Association of Designers of India (ADI), Bengaluru Design Week will celebrate design through an exhibition of design, inspiring talks, panel discussions, workshops, a marketplace for unique design products, a one-of-its-kind design film festival, visits to Bengaluru’s design workplaces and many more events across the city. The design community from Bengaluru will host multiple mini-events across the city that capture the diversity of design disciplines, professional practices, creative experiences and interests, ADI said on its website.

A few of the participating brands include Third Wave Coffee Roasters, Geist Beer, Daily Dump, 1Q1, Varnam, Oorjaa/ The Purple Turtles, Urban Ladder, Kadak Collective, Pinkapple, Bare Necessities, Mubhi, Tilt, Studio Moya, Meshined, Arvind Criton, Footsy and Pomogrenade among others.

The eight-day long event will host a professional day-long design conference on October 6 with talks, panel discussions and workshops. Creative minds from the city, the country and the world will share their ideas, learnings and stories and engage in important conversations on design, technology, business and life.

There will be a design showcase of the best work from design professionals and studios, institutions and design-driven organisations in Bengaluru. The event will celebrate design in all its forms – visual, physical, spatial, digital and even conceptual.

The week will be dedicated to short and long films, documentaries and storytelling, animation and cinematography. The Design Film Fest is a showcase of the craftsmanship and the labour of independent film- makers, studios, students and artists from Bengaluru. The festival will feature films on design, creative industry and iconic personalities. (RR)
