The government has appointed one of India’s best known designers, Ritu Beri, advisor to the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) for promotion of khadi in India and globally.
KVIC has appointed Beri for one year during which she will advise on ways to promote khadi.
"Beri would advise on introduction of state of the art multi-fashion designs and styles in khadi readymade garments and on promotion of Khadi in the country and abroad," KVIC Chairman Vinay Kumar Saxena said in New Delhi.
Beri has been a designer for 25 years. Former US President Bill Clinton, Prince Charles, Nicole Kidman and Ivana Trump are among the global celebrities for whom she has designed clothes."We hope her association will help take Khadi to newer heights both locally and globally," Saxena said. (SH)
