'The rainbow' theme of Omani Women's Fashion Trends
Oct '11
The Omani government's longstanding endeavor to empower women has gained robust momentum over the past year with His Majesty Sultan Qaboos designating October 17 as Omani Women's Day.

He implemented equality in his policies that were unheard of, he created an infrastructure which was nonexistent and most importantly, he encouraged the education of both women and men. As a result, the women of Oman today experience gender equality in all realms of life; from the right to be educated, equality in the workforce, right to vote and to run for elections.

Its with this thought Light and Shadow developed Light & Shadow's Omani Women's Fashion Trends. Omani Women's Fashion Trends (OWFT) is an exclusive fashion show for ladies only where leading and upcoming Omani Fashion Designers get to showcase their collection and we highlight the success women of the Sultanate of Oman have accomplished in Fashion and also give them a platform to showcase their talent. From this year onwards, Her Highness Sayyida Amal bint Turki bin Hamoud Al Said will be the Brand Ambassador for OWFT and will be the guiding force for Light and Shadow to make this event an even bigger success

The entire purpose of this event is to create awareness on the expertise of Omani Fashion and raise funds for a women's charitable organization. Post the fashion show the finale garments of each designer will be auctioned. All proceeds from this auction will be given to a cause supporting the women of the Sultanate. This year the theme for OWFT 2011 will be “The rainbow”. The rainbow occurs often in paintings but we will recreate it through fashion.

7 designers will come together to showcase each color of the rainbow, each designer will be given a colour to design their garments around. As the grand finale we will select the best garment from each designer depicting the colours of the rainbow, these garments will be then put on auction where the proceeds will be given to a charity who supports the development of women.

OWFT 2011 will take place on the 13th of October 2011 at the Majan Ballroom of the Al Bustan Palace, A Ritz Carlton Hotel.
