The 23rd Seoul Fashion Week will commence on October 17 at the Seoul Trade Exhibition Centre (SETEC) in southern part of Seoul, the capital of South Korea.

The annual six-day event will showcase Korea's best fall/winter 2012 collection. This year, a new segment called the “W Beauty & Fashion Week” will be organized by fashion magazine 'W'.

At the biggest Korean fashion event, new collections from both emerging and veteran designers will be presented in four categories - the Seoul Collection, Fashion Take-off, Generation Next and Fashion Fair.

Of these, the Seoul Collection will be the highlight, where 27 collections will be presented. In addition to collections of 23 prominent designers, the it will include collections of An Yoon-jung and Choi Bo-ko, the two 'prestige designers', and two other collections from national Korean brands.

Fashion Take-off category was first introduced in the previous Seoul Fashion Week. It is a specialized buying show to promote the works of 10 upcoming designers who want to make their mark in the international market.

Another category, Generation Next is aimed at promoting budding designers, whose designs will be presented through a creative show.

Under the Fashion Fair category, nearly 70 companies will display their various products including clothing, accessories, and bags at SETEC.

Korean fashion is becoming popular around the globe due to the quickly growing Hallyu (spread of South Korean culture around the world) industry, according to Taylor Yoon, PR Director for the Seoul Fashion Week. Hence, there are more foreign buyers today who are keen on buying work of local Korean designers.
