Spring 2012 LA Fashion Market – excellent show

Many new SELECT exhibitors are seeing the show as an opportunity to develop relationships with West Coast buyers. “We have a strong East Coast presence, and want to strengthen our national network,” said Joel Quiles of ADAM by Adam Lippes. “We felt it only natural to spearhead new West Coast relationships by showing our collection here at SELECT, which has proven to be beneficial by all the foot traffic and buzz we have received being here.”

Melanie Flood of Mellie J Showroom, showed new European lines this season at SELECT, and was overjoyed with the turn out. “The traffic and new connections we are making here have been fantastic” she said. “We have had a lot of new buyers come through who have been excited about the new lines we are introducing to the U.S.”

FOCUS Apparel & Accessories Show was presented in the Penthouse, 13th floor, Monday-Wednesday. The showcase included notable emerging brands Wanderlust, Dssence, Noa Ecco, Costella Handbags, Copenhagen Luxe, Bleu Temple, and others in a newly located showcase in the midst of TRANSIT the LA Shoe Show. Key brands at TRANSIT included Jeffrey Campbell, Vince Camuto, Report Signature, Calvin Klein, Steve Madden, Seychelles, Rocket Dog, Lovely People, Kelsi Dagger, and hundreds more.

“We have participated in this show from the beginning, and will definitely be coming back season after season in the future,” said Sharon Blackburn of Jeffrey Campbell Shoes. “Buyers seek us out at TRANSIT, and our booth is three times the size we normally are this Show, which is exciting.”

Heather Shay of The Frye Company remarked "We are always busy every TRANSIT. We have definitely seen an increase in traffic from last show. We have been writing multiple new store accounts daily. This show is always beneficial to us. This is also a great place to get attention for our brand, with the high volumes of traffic coming through.”

This Market's series of special events began with the F2 Runway Show, including a luncheon for buyers and press during opening day. Following that, Mercedes Gonzalez of Global Purchasing Companies presented the seminar “The Silent Salesperson - Visual Merchandising.” Buyers and press were also treated to several parties including an Opening Night Reception and AREA 4 Launch party, in addition to complimentary hair cuts, blow-outs, manicures, makeovers, snacks, beverages, and more.

Dates for the Summer 12 LA Fashion Market are Monday - Thursday January 16-19, 2012. Some showrooms will be open Sunday, January 15,2012 for preview.
