This includes the use of alternative vehicles, such as the SmartTruck, currently on trial in Berlin. The SmartTruck enables DHL to respond to customer assignments with greater flexibility, streamlining its service using a combination of radio-frequency identification (RFID) and communication technology to allow precise notification of pick up times for customers. Combined with in-built navigation technology, this streamlines the service by optimizing delivery routes and therefore vehicle capacities which, in turn, minimizes impact on the environment, lowers resource consumption and transport costs and reduces CO2 emissions.
With a worldwide presence in more than 220 countries, customers can take advantage of DHL's fast and reliable air, ocean and ground freight services, as well as supply chain management and an extensive knowledge of customs and trade regulations.
