Chinese Ji Cheng showcases Zen Awakening in London

Renowned Chinese designer, Ji Cheng presents her 2012 autumn/winter collection entitled Zen Awakening on the catwalk at Vauxhall Fashion Scout. This is the first time the Chinese designer is showing her work in London to an audience of international fashion media and buyers. Ji Cheng's aim is to expose the aesthetic of modern China to the international fashion industry.
Considered the foremost designer in Shanghai, her new collection combines the essence of classic Chinese art with modern Western techniques and tailoring. Ji Cheng employs her unique design methods and her passion for Chinese traditional culture in a constant quest for beauty. Her new range reflects her continued pursuit of contemporary balanced design.
The theme of the season, Zen Awakening, denotes that thought is not thinking, but it is relying on the inner senses to constantly examine actions, allowing a disordered mind to become focused. Looking toward the serenity and simplicity of the monk as a point of influence, the collection seeks to reach a higher state of unity. Zen Awakening invites the wearer to take a step forward and break free from a captive mind, entering the realm of the altruistic and pure.
The very core of Chinese beauty is in the polarity of tranquility and motion, from meaning to understanding. The Zen Awakening collection uses the natural blended colour of cassock, touched with modern fluorescent green, and pure vermillion.
