'Karmik' multi-designer prêt fashion chain launched

Pioneers of the concept of high fashion retailing, Pradeep and Neha Hirani's luxury fashion brand Kimaya, seen in India and internationally; added another first with the launch of brand “Karmik” at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012. Bringing together the country's top designers, the “Karmik Collection” contemporized fashion with affordable clothes and designer wear for women.

Presenting saris, salwars/kameez and tunics, the “Karmik Collection” had fabulous fabrics and prints. The design talents of India's top couturiers like Rohit Bal, Anamika Khanna, J J Valaya, Rocky S, Falguni and Shane Peacock, Ranna Gill, Shantanu and Nikhil, Rina Dhaka, Neeta Lulla and Kavita Bhartia presented a great affordable range of Indian designer wear.

The show was a fast paced presentation of four creations from each designer which will be in the price range of Rs 5000-6000, making it a wonderful opportunity to buy fabulous designer wear. The show opened with J J Valaya displaying an ornate kurta and churidars on popular young star Sonakshi Sinha and followed it with beautiful white panelled anarkalis in net with different necklines and lace bodices.

Anamika Khanna showed her distinct style with red appliqués on shoulders of choli, lean kurtas with pants and lush dupattas. Shantanu and Nikhil sent out white dresses with black cut work on shoulders and waist, adding on an ornate choli with a white sari.Ranna Gill's black panelled anarkalis with beaded boleros and the multi embroidered black lean kurta, and printed abstract kaftan were colourful.

Rina Dhaka's printed slim kurta, crushed lehenga and kurti were great summer time offerings.From Rocky S it was a line of four ankle skimming kurtas in shades of peach, blue, pale green and turquoise with delicate mother of pearl embellishments.

Neeta Lulla's glamour was visible in the brown, red, maroon kurtas twinkling with beautiful work. Falguni and Shane Peacock revealed their characteristic abstract prints with embroidery for clinging low back tunics and one shoulder anarkalis with great craftsmanship. Kavita Bhartia brought in western wear with minis, midi and maxis working their magic on the ramp.

Finally, Rohit Bal ended the show with a quilted yoke for swirling silk kurta, a crushed tiered anarkali, a black/purple crinkled tiered silk kurta and embroidered bolero. Taking a bow at the end of the show were the very thrilled and delighted J J Valaya, Rocky S, Ranna Gill, Rina Dhaka, Falguni and Shane Peacock, Shantanu and Nikhil and Neeta Lulla. The Karmik Collection from the House of Kimaya was one of the most exciting fashion happenings to take place at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012 which will delight the fashionistas of the country.
