Cotton Council International (CCI) has adjudged Indian fashion designer Rahul Mishra as the Best Women’s Designer for his creations with cotton fabric.
The Mumbai-based designer is a post-graduate from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, where he won the Best Student Designer of the Year in 2005. He also earned a scholarship to the Istituto Marangoni, Milan.
He made his fashion week debut in Mumbai in 2006 showcasing Kerala handloom fabric to make trousers and dresses that could be worn inside out.
During the intervening years, Rahul has displayed his collections at various fashion weeks including those in London, Dubai and Australia.
The designer’s creations also involve traditional Maheshwari and Chanderi weaves, which he had taken to global level by using them in his outfits.
CCI would be giving the award to Rahul Mishra on May 11, in recognition of his contribution in terms of promotion for cotton.
