London, Paris and New York are the usual suspects when it comes to fashion capitals and fashion weeks. However, they certainly aren’t the only places to seek inspiration for the latest trends and fashions. Further afield are sartorial happenings and hot spots that are worth checking out when keeping track of the latest fashion phases.

One fashion week that has picked up much recent interest is Jamaica Style Week, a 4-Day event that included a series of outdoor events and parties at heritage sites around the island.

The key event, of course, was the Women’s Shows in Port Royal. With cannons, battlements and other catwalk theatrics in the mix, the event was a fashion fiesta. Over 30 designers reflected the fashion of the island. Styles that dominated were the summer tropical dresses, swimwear and gala dresses. Essentially everything a girl wants on holiday.

New Look, the high street fashion leaders, leap on emerging trends from across the globe. Jamaica Style Week, offering up its topical, tropical fashion of prints and pretty evening dresses is firmly on fashion’s map, placing Jamaica under well-deserved and overdue spotlight.

New Look’s current trends mirror this summer style. Their surge of new summer wear is all about island fashion, with hot weather party dresses and bikinis taking centre stage.

Two sizzling stand-out pieces are the White Bodycon Gold Studded Dress, made to shimmer on those warm balmy nights, and the Multicoloured Striped Bandeau Bikini, perfect with the season’s high-waisted denim shorts. For prints with a Jamaican punch, the New Look Multi-coloured Palm Leaf Tipped Racer Black Vest is an essential for the holiday wardrobe hungry for super summer style. These three staple pieces are all highly on-trend with Jamaica’s recent style week and versatile for day, night, beach and bar.

For a stylish summer, look to Jamaica’s style and guidance for the latest in hip, holiday fashion. It certainly puts them firmly on the map when it comes to world fashion.
