To commemorate the occasion, an exclusive exhibit of iconic pieces from the Gucci Museo that represents the Houses’ eternal icon - the Flora pattern - will be on display for one month. The exhibition is composed of flora scarves from the 60’s, women’s ready-to-wear pieces including mini dresses, blouses and gowns with the flora print, original drawings of floral scarves from the 60’s and 70’s by illustrator Vittorio Accornero, handbags with the flora and unique porcelain items such as flora cachepots, ashtrays, glasses, mugs and a lamp.
In addition, a selection of evening gowns from the House’s Florentine archive will also be on display at the store’s VIP Lounge Area on the first floor. The designs include Gucci Première dresses worn by Jessica Alba and Berenice Bejo at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards, Salma Hayek Pinault’s Gucci Première dress from 2011 Cannes Film Festival and a one of a kind dress worn by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.
A large selection of the Flora iconic pieces and evening gowns will be showcased for the first time.
To celebrate the opening, Creative Director Frida Giannini has created a special edition of evening bags in anaconda pink tan and blue aqua inspired by the pastel summer shades of the Gucci Cruise 2013 collection. Available as a limited edition, the handbag carries a plaque with the Gucci logo and the name of the boutique.
Patrizio di Marco, President and CEO Gucci, stated “The opening of this flagship store in Gurgaon underscores Gucci’s commitment to India. This is our fifth store in this unique country, where we have been operating directly since the end of 2009, and is testament to the importance that we are placing on this fast growing and competitive market.
Gucci has established a strong brand recognition in India and also among Indian customers living in the most important luxury destinations around the world, including London, New York and Paris. We have seen that Indian customers are sophisticated and discerning, with a special passion for high quality and artisanal craftsmanship. Our focus now is on deepening our relationships with local customers, through various initiatives which offer them the opportunity to engage more fully with the brand and its values.”
Speaking on the occasion, Mr P.R.S Oberoi, Chairman, The Oberoi Group said, “I am delighted that Gucci has opened its flagship store at The Oberoi, Gurgaon. This store is a valuable addition to the luxury retail offerings at the hotel. Both the brands represent a legacy of luxury, superior product and personalised service.”
