Noida emerges as new choice for Indian fashion designers

Noida may not be the fashion hub of the country, but it is clearly the unanimous choice among Indian fashion designers looking to set up their manufacturing units.

Speaking to fibre2fashion, Noida-based fashion designer Anand Bhushan said, “Most of the designers are setting up their production units in Greater Noida since they get tax relaxation compared to New Delhi and Mumbai.”

According to Rahul Mishra, the Indian fashion designer well-known for his creations in handloom weaves, several Indian fashion designers are setting up their manufacturing units in Noida as it is very close to the capital city of New Delhi.

“Unlike the metros, availability of land and skilled manpower are attracting the fashion designers to Noida,” he adds.

Talking about the Noida-based fashion designers, he says, “It helps the Noida-based designers to sustain them in their home town and grow further in their carrier.

Echoing him, Zubair Kirmani, known for contemporary minimalism with classic heritage designs, says, “Noida is definitely the new destination for Indian fashion designers who plan to set up their production units.”

“Noida is a proper industrial area with availability of infrastructure, electricity and is also connected with a metro line,” he mentions.

Rajasthan-based designer Pallavi Jaipur says, “Fashion designers are opening up their units in Noida because there is a space constraint in New Delhi.”

However, she quickly adds, “There is a long way to go for Noida to be the fashion hub of India since most of the sales are made in New Delhi.”
