Androgynous looks steal show at Paris Menswear FW finale

Androgynous looks coupled with some kaleidoscopic or magnified prints were the ultimate show stealers on the final day of the Paris Menswear Fashion Week.

The veteran English fashion designer Sir Paul Smith presented his latest men's fall-winter 2013-2014 collection, which featured a range of short, tight-shouldered suits complemented with laser cut pockets. The 66-year-old designer’s magnified hounds tooth and hazy marble printed shirts, coats as well as jackets were based on wintry purple, turquoise and citrus tones.

Uber stylish French label Melinda Gloss, along with its designers Remi de Laquintane and Mathieu de Menonville, highlighted the concept of informal tailoring through their well-defined clothing line. The featured ensembles included several arts and military influenced trench and oversized hooded coats with a generous dash of abstract kaleidoscopic prints inspired by a painting of the Dutch American abstract expressionist artist Willem de Kooning.

The five-day-long Parisian men’s fashion extravaganza was rounded off by the most awaited Yves Saint Laurent’s newly appointed creative director Hedi Slimane’s debut menswear show for the French label.

The 44-year-old designer of mixed origins, born to an Italian mother and a Tunisian father, showcased an androgynous-hinted range by drawing inspiration from the 1970’s self-searching students’ confused looks. The line included long, striped thick-knit scarves, oversized jackets, feminine coats and ripped skinny jeans.
