Couture Fashion Week, the prestigious New York event now entering its 17th season in February 2013, is partnering with Berkeley College’s Fashion Marketing and Management program in a series of educational and hands-on opportunities for Berkeley students.

Various student teams, each with a specific mission in the different elements involved in creating and producing a fashion week, will be participating in the event. Students will be involved in many aspects of the event production, and gain practical experience working alongside industry professionals.

“This will truly be a rewarding developmental experience for our students,” says Berkeley College President, Dr. Dario Cortes. “Berkeley College had 54 students participate last season during Fashion Week in New York. Our goal is to immerse our students in programs, such as these, that prepare them with the necessary skills and education to be future leaders in a global fashion industry.”

Since 1931, Berkeley College has specialized in preparing students for professional and personal success. Proven, career-focused Bachelor's and Associate's degrees are offered in a diverse range of areas to over 7,700 students. The College is widely recognized for providing students with a competitive edge and the skills sought by employers. The College has numerous locations in the Greater New York City and New Jersey areas, as well as an online program.

Couture Fashion Week founder and producer Andres Aquino is also enthusiastic about the partnership with Berkeley College. "I was excited to discuss the direction of this opportunity with Dr. Cortes,” says Mr. Aquino. “I am glad to see it is taking shape and moving forward. I am sure we will expand on this concept in the future.”

Couture Fashion Week is a multi-day event showcasing couture and luxury fashion. It also includes exhibits of luxury brands and fine art as well as world-class entertainment and receptions.
