With the ongoing discussions on unsafe working conditoions in textile and garment factories and its impact all over the world, several emerging fashion designers are on the drive to promote sustainability through their designs. Since, they are the trendsetters and they could drive the global textile and garment industry towards eco-fashion by creating their collections using traditional textile products, zero-waste patterns and natural dyes.

Redress Raleigh, an eco-fashion company, is organizing a two-day conference on eco-fashion and textiles in the Southeastern part of the US and beyond which will be held on March 23, 2013 and March 24, 2013 at the Raleigh Marriot City Center, North Carolina.

In a conversation with fibre2fashion, strategic director of the US-based eco-fashion firm Redress Raleigh, Ms. Beth Stewart said, “The mission of the conference is to expand the dialogue on transforming the current fashion and textiles industry into an ecologically conscious and ethical one.”

"The Southeast and North Carolina in particular has a strong textile history and this is a great way to put ourselves back on the map. The conference is also just the beginning and we want everyone who attends to soak up the knowledge and ideas shared and put these thoughts into action. Our intention is to continue growing the network surrounding eco-fashion and textiles - creating a web of resources for all players in this industry, she informs."

Ms. Mor Aframian, director of Community Relations – Redress Raleigh, says, “Overall, we want people to be aware of the impact their purchasing choices have on the environment, economy, and society; and make them aware of the influence they have in transforming the fashion & textile industry, ultimately creating a paradigm shift in mainstream fashion.”
