Multiple-award winning, world’s famous fashion designer and environmentalist Stella McCartney is now a proud holder of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) medal.

Honoured for her remarkable contribution towards the British fashion industry, the designer received the coveted accolade from Queen Elizabeth II at a prestigious ceremony, held recently at the Buckingham Palace.

Daughter of former Beatles member Sir Paul McCartney, Stella had designed nearly 500 individual sportswear pieces for Great Britain teams participating in London Olympics and Paralympics.

In 2012, the 41-year-old designer had been awarded with the titles of Designer of the Year and Designer Brand of the Year at the prestigious British Fashion Awards.

Initiated by King George V in the year 1917, the Order of the British Empire is an order of chivalry given to people for their outstanding contribution to their respective fields.
