With proper efforts and right structures, Dubai could establish itself as a global fashion hub, Chief Executive of Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), Steven Kolb has said.

The Council represents Calvin Klein, Diane Von Furstenberg, Ralph Lauren and several other businesses.

Mr. Kolb attended the recent Fashion Forward event held in Dubai. Fashion Forward extends a platform for the Middle East fashion industry to more prominently showcase its products to the world.

He said that fashion capitals like Paris, London, New York and Milan are some of the pillars of the global fashion industry, but several other upcoming markets also have good scope, according to The National.

Speaking about Dubai he said, the city can make its place in the global fashion world through right efforts, as globalization achieved through technological advancements, would eventually wipe out the concept of identifying one city or one capital as a fashion capital.

Speaking after the Fashion Forward event, which hosted several panel discussions, runway shows and experts talk, Mr. Kolb said the event featured some “great things”, but still further efforts are required to develop the industry.

He said Dubai has features of fashion industry, as over 20 local designers showcased their creations at the event. The interest shown by the media to cover Dubai’s fashion also substantiates the same, he added.
