The third edition of Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL) has moved to a bigger venue, The Old Truman Brewery, a recently redeveloped brewery in London and will be held from August 1-3, 2013.

This year’s event is expected to include works of 100 designers on the runway, while over 100 exhibitors will showcase across the massive indoor space of the venue.

The AFWL is known to promote the native designers of Africa and at display will be the works of African and African-inspired fashion designers.

The aim of AFWL, one of the biggest fashion events of Africa held outside the continent, is to provide a platform for emerging designers of Africa with the support of eminent fashion designers, valued patrons and sponsors of Africa.

The two patrons for the third edition of AFWL are Nigeria-based architect and businesswoman Mrs. Fifi Ejindu and London-based globally celebrated Nigerian fine artist Yinka Shonibare, MBE.

CEO and founder of AFWL Ronke Ademiluyi said the AFWL team is excited to have such highly supportive enthusiasts of the African fashion.

The first edition of AFWL at the Gibson Hall of London in 2011 featured 54 designers and attracted 4700 visitors. The number of visitors at the 2012 edition at London’s Spitalfields increased sharply to about 20,000.
