Last week, Fashion156.com, the online fashion magazine, hosted its Graduate Showcase Week which featured art/design/fashion graduates from across a number of institutions. The aim was to give graduates a platform to showcase their work as well as hear their views on higher education, internships and their future plans.

Of the 60 graduates featured 20 were LCF graduates, many of whom spoke positively about their time at LCF.

BA (Hons) Cordwainers Accessories: Product Design & Development graduate Helena Dillon discussed how she benefited from academic study.

“I think this is a good way of learning and allows you to develop your skills slightly quicker than going through the university route. I enjoyed the academic side of the course and wanted to experience university this has enabled me to work out where I would like to be in the industry.”

Valentina La porta spoke about the support she received throughout the BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear course.

“The most positive aspect of the course was definitely the possibility to learn from the best tutors and to be mentored throughout the three years. Especially during the final year I had great support and advice which helped me to develop my final collection.”

Sarah Buchanan, BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear felt that the course’s focus on collaborative work was important.

‘ I feel that collaborating has ensured that we have developed a more impactful collection that has a more intensive expression of design style and shared vision’
