Functional fiber artisan Lucy Chapman to partake at NYFW

Lucy Chapman specializes in creating practical and luxurious fiber art from natural fibers and repurposed materials. Rosy Toes Designs offers eco friendly felted messenger bags, pouches, scarves, hats and cuffs handcrafted from such fibers as wool, alpaca and reclaimed silk.

While Ms. Chapman is best known for her felted wool messenger bags, (their Organic Wool Messenger Bag, Single Flower was seen in InStyle Magazine, UK September 2013), she has also received international attention for her Elegant Alpaca Cuffs, (appeared in British Vogue November and December 2012).

There, they were chosen as one of the “hottest finds of the season” and “must have fashion accessories.” Ms. Chapman was also thrilled to have her felted alpaca beanies featured in the September 2013 issue of Urban Farm Magazine.

She says of her work, “My style crosses many boundaries. You’ll find understated elegance, retro and urban chic, and vibrant pops of color. All are created with attention to detail and quality materials. I make pieces that are meant to be used and enjoyed. Part of that enjoyment is knowing that you have something that is going to last. Part of it is knowing you have something that you can’t find just anywhere.”

Ms. Chapman, a long time member of The Artisan Group, has participated in a number of exclusive luxury gifting events, including GBK’s Luxury Gift Lounges at The Cannes Film Festival, The Oscar Awards, The Golden Globe Awards, and The Primetime Emmy Awards.

With The Artisan Group, she has also gifted one of her alpaca beanies to actor Ryan Gosling, and a bag to HGTV’s Carie Cucksey. In addition, her work has been submitted for consideration to a number of TV shows (Pretty Little Liars, Once Upon a Time, and Parenthood), some of which are still under consideration.
