Gunawan shows camouflage line in classy designs at JFW

For Ivan Gunawan every woman is beautiful. Although she is having a troubled mind and heart, she can still look pretty, as long as she can “camouflage” it.

That was the core of Ivan Gunawan’s show – Beautiful Liar – at the 2014 Jakarta Fashion Week. The celebs’ favorite showed his idea of “camouflage” in classy and sexy designs. In spite of lacking details, they were lightweight, dangling and see-through.

In silk chiffon, tulle, organdy, lace and brocade, the models looked impeccable. The front sides were glowing in red as if the designer wanted to emphasize the woman-power. But they could also look softer or vulnerable in skin tone and pastel color palettes. Meanwhile, mint blue was also used by Ivan to show the feeling-blue mood.

Ivan is indeed never afraid to accentuate every woman’s elegancy. His lightweight-and-see-through-dominated collection showed off the models’ long legs. “This time I did not use the tight and conventional corsets. I want the women to be able to move freely and feel comfortable in my clothes,” said Ivan at the press conference.

He also mentioned about creating balance in sexy clothes. “If the front side flaunts the skin, the back is nicely covered, and vice versa. But even though it’s covered, it still looks sexy.” He also illustrated the feminine side of women in sequins, pearls and crystals.

Another distinct thing was that all models did not wear accessories. “What’s the use? Besides, all women today wear makeup when they go out.” The absence of accessories was replaced by the belts or beautiful ribbons on waist.

They accentuated and made the waistline look even sexier. Through the show attended by his celebrity customers, Ivan emphasized that “every woman is beautiful and classy” and “age does not matter”. “I want my clothes to be timeless.”
