Barbara Casasola, the London-based fashion designer, has been picked up as the Guest Womenswear Designer at the forthcoming 85th edition of the world’s most important platform for men’s clothing and accessory collections Pitti Immagine Uomo.
A regular at London and Paris fashion weeks, Barbara will showcase her latest designs at the Italian apparel trade event which is scheduled to take place from January 7 to 10, 2014 in Florence, Italy.
Confirming the young Brazilian designer’s participation in the event, the director of communication at Pitti Immagine, Lapo Cianchi, said, “We chose Barbara Casasola to be the next Pitti women’s Guest Designer mainly because we loved her last few collections which had a clean, modern, sophisticated yet seductive and glamorous look,”
“It is as though the openly minimal and romantic style conceals – and almost represses - a desire for greater affirmation and strength. This could also reflect an important part of her personality.”
He further explains, “Barbara Casasola is a young woman who has worked with a number of top fashion houses. She is proud of her homeland, Brazil, but has chosen to live and work in London, in a highly competitive environment.”
“All her work is produced in Italy and this is another reason why we are interested in her.  We are convinced that she is on the verge of taking her place on the front line of international women’s fashion and that is why we offered her a platform at Pitti,” he adds.
Other than Barbara, the four-day-long soiree Pitti Immagine Uomo will also see the upscale Italian denim brand Diesel Black Gold, helmed by Andreas Melbostad, as the Guest Menswear Designer label.
