High-end haute couture pieces and workshops on denims were seen on the first two days of Latvian fashion extravaganza Riga Fashion Week.

French designer Denis Durand’s label Ddad opened the event with its heavy on silk, lace and Swarovski crystal embellished creations.

The second day of the event witnessed a denim-based extravaganza, conducted by Tailored Denim and Ilya Bulichev, the master known for designing customized jeans with fabric and buttons chosen by the customers.

Emerging Latvian designer Alexandra Westfal presented a fresh Spring/Summer 2014 collection, inspired from the works of the Korean-born Japanese minimalist painter and sculptor Lee U-Fan. Incorporated with original handmade prints, the apparels were stitched with a special knitting technique that resulted in giving them a clean transparent look.

Riga Fashion Week debutante M-Couture, from Latvia, featured a line full of contrasting elements. Made from organza and leather, the collection included sleek pencil skirts and dresses.

Another designer brand Sin on the Beach, which also made its debut on the fashion week catwalk, presented a colourful beachwear range with trendy silhouettes and vibrant prints, designed by Anna Kustikova.

Latvian label QooQoo also staged its latest Spring/summer 2014 catwalk collection on the second day of the event, which is considered as Baltic fashion industry’s most important fashion centric soiree.
