Prior to her latest award, Ahluwalia, who is a graduate from National School of Drama, Delhi, had earlier won the same title in 2007 Filmfare Awards for the film Omkara.

Other than Filmfare, the designer has also bagged the National Film Award for Best Costume Design in 1996 and 2012.

Additionally, the costumer has been nominated three times for the Genie Award for Best Achievement in Costume Design.

Other than the Best Costume Design award, the movie ‘Bhaag Milkhaa Bhaag’ also bagged five other awards, such as best film, best director, best production design, best actor (Farhan Akhtar) and best lyricist (Prasoon Joshi), at the 59th awards night in Mumbai.

The film is a biographical sports drama based on the life of famous Indian athlete and Olympian Milkha Singh.
