More than 35 international fashion houses will celebrate Hollywood’s most remembered screen goddess Marilyn Monroe through a charity fashion show, slated to be staged during the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS benefit at the Cannes International Film Festival in France.

The fundraising catwalk parade, which will be organized by the former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld, will be themed under the powerful colour red, which is a symbol of the battle against AIDS.

Labels like Alexander McQueen, Alexander Wang, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Roberto Cavalli, Chanel, Christian Dior, Christopher Kane, Fendi, Giorgio Armani, Givenchy, Gucci, Kenneth Cole, Lanvin, Marc Jacobs, Marchesa, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford, Versace and Ulyana Sergeenko will showcase one-off evening gowns inspired by the late American diva.

Scheduled to take place on May 22, 2014, the celebrity studded runway will see some 40 models, including the likes of Karlie Kloss, Toni Garrn, Arizona Muse and Daria Strokous, strutting in the exclusive scarlet hued evening looks which would later be auctioned off to raise money for AIDS eradication purposes.

59-year-old Roitfeld is overseeing the amfAR gala fashion show for the third time in a row. The first edition had a black theme and the second one, which had auctioned dresses worth US$ 2 million, paid tribute to Elizabeth Taylor by choosing gold as the colour theme.

Known for its legendary live auctions and entertainment packed performances by famous celebs, Cinema Against AIDS is a world-renowned charitable fundraiser held each year since 1993 during the Cannes Film Festival.

The 67th edition of annual Cannes International Film Festival is due to be held from May 14 to 25, 2014.

amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, is an international non-profit organization dedicated to the support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment, education, and the advocacy of sound AIDS-related public policy.
