The internationally famous Nepalese American fashion designer Prabal Gurung opened the sixth edition of Singaporean glitzy lifestyle and glamorous soiree Audi Fashion Festival (AFF) with his latest Fall-2014 range.
Inspired from the Himalayas’ Mustang region, the Singapore-born designer created tribal and urban chic elements infused collection. Divided into three styles, outerwear, casualwear and eveningwear, the pieces were adorned with paint brush tapestry effects influenced by the works of British painter Cecily Brown.
Enhanced with glittering Swarovski crystals and floral prints, the featured ensembles were knitted sweaters, scarves, sarong-like skirts, wrap tops and formal fitted trousers in autumnal shades of deep burgundy, marmalade orange, scarlet red, grey and midnight blue.
The second day of the event, which is slated to run through May 18, 2014, will showcase F/W 2014 collections from local labels like Saturday (owned by designer Nic Wong) and Hensel (from designer Jo Soh).
Also the London-based Singaporean designer Ashely Isham and Spanish clothier Desigual will feature their latest catwalk trends on the same day of the soiree.
Raised in Kathmandu, Nepal, studied in New Delhi’s National Institute of Fashion Technology, Prabal Gurung commands an impressive clientele which includes the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, The Duchess of Cambridge, Zoe Saldana, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lawrence, Demi Moore and Emma Watson.
