The recently concluded edition of the Roman bi-annual fashion week AltaRoma featured latest designs by several young and seasoned talents from various parts of Italy.
The Sarli Couture brand opened the five-day event with its Fall-Winter 2014/2015 haute couture designs, based on architectural shapes and volumes. Designed under the aesthetic guidance of the brand’s creative director Rocco Palermo, the 32-piece line was replete with pure fluid lines and constructive detailing.
Adorned with Swarovski crystals, vibrant prints and stripes, the collection’s most standout pieces were flared ponchos, short dresses, silk evening gowns, pants, long tunics, sleeveless unstructured jackets, maxis and suits in a palette of black, white and pink hues.
Fabio Quaranta, the designer behind the Fabio Forty label, drew inspiration from some prominent cultural personalities from the last 50 years such as William Burroughs, Joseph Beuys, Marcel Duchamp, Michael Gira, George Harrison and Billy Childish for his new Spring-2015 creations.
Replete with the label’s signature classic, comfortable and spacious silhouettes combined with luxe fabrics and impeccable tailoring, the 1940’s and 1950’s workwear styled unisex pieces were detailed with large patch pockets. The featured garments include vests, maxi shirts, shorts, fluid jackets and oversized overcoats.
The Arabic folk tale compilation ‘One Thousand and One Nights’ played as muse for designer Giada Curti’s latest catwalk presentation Shukran, which included crystal encrusted wedding robes, soft velvet turbans and embroidered satin, muslin, silk mikado, chantilly lace and macramé made long dresses in shades of desert rose, white and steel.
