Several emerging and well-established Canadian and international men’s fashion designers showcased their creativity at the just held debut edition of Toronto Men’s Fashion Week (TOM).

Mexican menswear brand Paulo Succar featured its signature print heavy line, replete with vivid, oversized motifs of insects and bugs, while Toronto-based Sons of Odin, owned by designers Zakariah Milana and Charlene Martin, chose to display a collection of basic casualwear enhanced with rich textures, patterns of ropes and roses, and leather detailing.

Filipino-Canadian designer Noel Crisostomo infused his trademark North American design sensibility into his latest line of crisp, structured casualwear, incorporated with colour blocking and varied houndstooth detailing, whereas designer Luca Galardo’s label Diodati opted to feature a more futuristic range which included pieces like iridescent, transparent bodysuits and athletic sleeveless tanks.

In addition to the seasoned names, the Emerging Menswear Designer Awards finalists like Som Kong, Toronto-based Andrew Coimbra and the Manila native Patrick Salonga also displayed their avant-garde male fashion creations at the five-day event.

The young designers’ most standout pieces included immaculately tailored Poppy pixel print adorned classic camel trench coats and shorts, graphic design enhanced jersey sportswear separates like bandannas and shirts, as well as some heavily textured and layered ensembles.
