The Parson’s School of Design grad Lela Rose opened the fifth day of ongoing Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York with her floral and graphic print concocted Spring/Summer 2015 creations.

Inspired from the all-time favourite traditional Japanese garment Kimono, the designer infused an element of romanticism in her heavily textured and patterned chiffon, silk and guipure lace crafted pieces. The line’s standouts were a rose embroidered water-print mesh top teamed with a giant polka dotted full organza skirt, a wrapped bodice with cut-outs and a beaded metallic tulle gown.

The Venezuelan-American fashion veteran Carolina Herrera went all digitized with her new neon, subdued yellow, deep red, tan and neutral hue heavy collection. Embellished with foam geometric motifs, the 75-year-old showcased digital flower emblazoned long gowns with stiff white bodices, beaded above-the-knee loose fit skirts, boxy short sleeved tops, sporty knit open jackets with exaggerated collars, jersey blouses and roomy trousers.

The musical era of the late 1960s was brought back in the latest catwalk presentation of the all-American fashion brand Tommy Hilfiger. Celebrating the legendary groups of that period such as Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, The Who and The Doors, the featured range included colourful versions of the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper-style gold trimmed brocade jackets, burgundy sateen capes, sequined mini-dresses, lurex scarves, tunics, flat-collared bombers and peaked caps.

American designer Donna Karan once again showcased her love for New York in the new catwalk range of her namesake main line. Paired with outlandish hats by milliner Stephen Jones, the highlights of the collection included a stretchy silk, nylon and organza crafted black bra worn with a monochrome pleated poplin skirt, an organza bomber jacket teamed with an embroidered linen canvas skirt, and a vibrantly printed orange skirt and top combo.
