The just concluded third instalment of India Runway Week (IRW), a unique platform organized by the Indian Federation for Fashion Development (IFFD) to highlight new comers, budding and generation-next designers, showcased fresh lines of Winter/Festive 2014 creations from more than 35 designers.

Designer Rosy Ahluwalia featured a zardozi, swaroski and Zariwork embellished line, which included royal lehengas and floor length gowns, alongside the Indian-meets-westernwear heavy pastel hued pieces designed by Kavita Gogna and Aarti Tripathi on the opening day.

Designers Sandeep Singh and Pummy Bhatia showcased their ethnicwear collection replete with doriwork, pearls, beads and crushed silk, whereas the designer duo Cheena and Shirin Singh, behind the Indulgence label, featured elegant cocktailwear ensembles in nude, blue and red tones on the second day of the event.

Indrani Chowdhury opted to present digitally printed crisp cotton, linen and khaki looks and the fashion pair Roli and Saurabh Khandelwal chose to feature flowing satin dresses and designer Kshitija Rana wove magic through her skilfully crafted royal wedding collection comprised of lehengas, sarees and salwar suits.

Akanksha and Dhruv, the designers behind the Raas collection, featured ethnic pieces and the young duo Megha Kumari and Jigar Mali drew inspiration from huge manmade structures for their polyester, tulle and net made pieces while designer Rashi Kapoor sent a riot of colours down the runway with her Indo-western designs in fabrics like georgette, net and brocade.

The second day of IRW also displayed menswear entries from Manish Gupta, who showed an edgy grey and black based line titled Stylion, and designer Fahd Khatri who presented ethnic jackets made using brocades, satins and cottons.

The third and final day of the catwalk do saw customized prêt-e-porter garments in shades of blue, white and yellow by the duo Anita Sihaag and Nitin Gupta and an indo-western collection by Prerna Jha. Designer Lhusano Zakiesato highlighted a classy and chic mix of Indi-Fusion summerwear and VooDoo label founders Prernaa Das and Anurag Nigam sent pieces designed in white, gold, lime and nude colours down the ramp.
