Weave revivalist and textile designer Gaurang Shah has announced that he will present 'Samyukta' at Lakme Fashion Week in August in Mumbai.

The forthcoming event - his maiden solo show - will have 44 models walking the ramp that will showcase both men and women's wear, Shah said in a press release.

The Red collection is inspired from the epic and dramatic love story of legendary king Prithiviraj Chauhan and Samyukta; the strong headed queen, admired for her exceptional beauty. “It's a journey of Indian weaves from seven states of India” Gaurang said. “We wanted it to blend with the forthcoming bridal season.”

“The 44-design collection is a tale of the most beautiful queen of her times and her exquisite style of clothing” the designer said. “It is a journey, which replicate the culture of Kannauj; her native land in Rajasthan and her lifestyle in Delhi after her marriage.”

He showcased a sneak preview of 'Samyukta' era in Hyderabad  at the Lakme Fashion Week Designer preview. The beautiful Anarkali in different shades of red was worn by well known Kuchipudi artist Sandhya Raju.

The bridal collection for the bride and bridegroom has a strong emphasis on Banaras textile artistry alongside the beautiful weaves from different parts of India.

This new collection is yet another reflection of his relentless passion for the Indian textile beautifully translated into wearable art. His love for red is resplendent in bridal silhouettes like anarkalis, lehengas, kurtas, ghararas, ijars, farshis along with his signature jamdani sarees for the bride-to- be with tailored jamas, anghrakhis,  choghas, sadris and achkans  crafted for the bridegroom.
