Protective eyewear developer Revision Eyewear Ltd has signed a contract with the U.S. Army to supply 100,000 sets of the Revision Sawfly U.S. Military Eyewear.
The first 20,000 units have been delivered, and the sleek, protective glasses will be used in the Army's Training Base Eye Protection Program, in which new recruits will wear Revision eyewear during training to protect their eyes and to familiarize them with routinely wearing protective eyewear.
“Revision Eyewear designs and manufactures ballistic eyewear that meets or exceeds existing military requirements,” said Jonathan Blanshay, President of Revision Eyewear.
“We are proud to be part of the Army's Eye Protection Program that aims to educate soldiers about the importance of protective eyewear and how constant use of eye protection can significantly reduce battlefield eye injuries.”
The Revision Sawfly Spectacle System, available in two sizes, provides superior fit, function, comfort, and ventilation. Sawfly spectacles have interchangeable, highimpact polycarbonate lenses giving an undistorted, unrestricted field of view and 100% UV protection. Compatible with helmets, night vision gear, weapons sights and binoculars, the Sawfly can also be customized for prescription vision correction.
During a visit to the Revision facility today, U.S. Senator, Patrick Leahy of Vermont, said, “Revision Eyewear's specially designed protective glasses have proven invaluable to thousands of our troops serving overseas in severe and dangerous conditions."
