It was less than three years ago that Pavan Anand, a graduate in architecture, realized that his real passion was jewellery designing and started out with Rs30,000.

Currently, Pavan Anand's Dagmar jewellery has an annual turn over of Rs30 million and sells all around the world, especially in New York, Miami, London, Budapest, Barcelona, Sydney, Jakarta, Manila, Istanbul, Kuwait, Dubai, and Durban.

In India, the jewellery is most sought after at retail outlets like Samsaara in Delhi and Ogaan in Mumbai, and the latest hit is his just-unveiled Maharaja Line.

His collection includes the bridal ensemble in green jade and fresh water pearls against a backdrop of square emeralds, garnets and white quartz, or the antique-silver framework studded with inverted pear-shaped blue topaz, accentuated with fresh water pearl clusters.

Besides, there is a necklace with matching earrings handcrafted in silver and gold plated and studded with white quartz and semi-finished turquoise; an earring set that is an outsized garnet with a mesh of white quartz with fresh water pearls as danglers.

There is also the 'Show Stopper', a dazzling array of pink sapphire, rose quart and fresh water pearls, the necklace being heightened by a matching 'tikka' adorning the forehead.

All this in a range that starts at Rs3,000 and goes up to Rs11,000.

The designer, whose mission is to provide women with an effortless sense of style and flamboyance, finds that his best market is South Africa which is very savvy with jewellery.
