In a gruesome incident, a Delhi-based fashion designer suffered severe burns when two unidentified miscreants doused her in acid and kerosene and set her on fire on Saturday, July 11.

Thirty-six-year-old designer Tarveen Suri, who lives in the posh Greater Kailash-II area, suffered 80 percent burns and has been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital. She is said to be critical with the lower-half of her body charred badly.

It was a regular day for Tarveen, who was at her residence with her in-laws and two daughters. At around 7.30 pm, two men reportedly came on a blue Pulsar and rang the doorbell of Suri's house. As she opened the door, Tarveen was pulled out by the men who then poured acid and kerosene on her and set her on fire with a matchbox and fled.

Police are focusing their probe on Suri's strained relation with husband Naveen, who was in Goa at the time of the attack. Tarveen was apparently upset with Naveen's growing relation with his office colleague Rachna. The victim's brother told the police that Suri had been receiving threat calls from Rachna.
