Kavita offers fusion of East & West at WIFW

The Autumn/Winter offering is an out and out Kavita Bhartia signature line. One is not surprised to see a soft, feminine and fluid collection from the designer. But while she has strongly retained her spirit in the garments, she has beautifully mixed eastern aesthetics with western sensibilities.

The silhouettes ranged from free-flowing short empire line tunics teamed with colour contrasting tights to accentuated waists in full lengths and further onto layered looks as well.

There was a strong element of gold in various hues from yellow gold, dust gold, or brushed bronze. The colour combinations were eclectic yet very tasteful. The amalgamation of off whites and earth tones with vibrant rich blues and reds stood out and were further highlighted through rich embellishments in the form of encrusted jewels.

Kavita Bhartia has also displayed her favorite full skirts in an interesting range of different lengths, wherein she has combined different prints, different embroideries and has retained the girth at the hemline with broad gold borders adding richness to the garment. Her collection had a perfect mix of dresses, tunics, skirts, gowns, cowl pants and more…

The high point of the collection was also the scarves in a wide array of colours combined with tassles and gold trims. These were wrapped elegantly around the shoulders and the neck and added an aura to the ensemble.

The contrasting underskirts added another element of colour to the garments.

Soft fabrics in muted tones and some merged with unusual contrasting colours brought an understated glamour to the collection.

To sum up, Kavita's collection was ethereal and heady mix of combining beauty, form and drama.
