Niki Mahajan mesmerizes spectators with her signature style

Niki Mahajan continues to enthrall with her signature style treatment of fabrics as she creates her own special fusion of colours, textures and style.
The right amount of interplay of prints along with a muted colour palette brings forth a collection that is very wearable and yet has an aura of its own.
Her silhouettes display a varied range of eastern and western and at the same time retain both the influences. Crop jackets worn with short dresses and skirts, jacket dresses with beautifully styled necklines, dhoti pants with fitted and flare full circle tops contrast with bubble hem skirts, knee length pleated dresses, quilted jackets smartly fitted tops and well constructed sleeves – all this together comprises Niki Mahajan's style statement.
The autumn-winter 08/09 collection exhibits an elegant and understated look provided by a colour palette of purple, green, red, wine, plum and magenta, all muted at the same time rich. The base for these merging colours is generally charcoal blacks and earthy browns.
Soft, printed and sensuous fabrics complement thicker textures and create a story of their own. The positioning of bias stripes to make flirty handkerchief skirts and dresses works well especially with the tiny beads placed along the edges. Most of the garments were multicoloured, multipatched yet were not over the top. The ensembles were busy and very unique in the way they made their mark.
The designer has also offered a visual treat in her addition of gold elements like antique borders in some dresses and through subtle detailing.
The collection was wonderfully complemented by oversized rectangular clutch bags as well as big shopper bags.
To sum up, Niki Mahajan once again comes through with a winning collection!!
