A group of five Vietnamese designers recently launched their spring-summer collection at Equatorial Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City, organized by YKK, a leading fashion company. The collection comprised of casual and fashion wear garments.

Phu Tan, Nhat Huy, Cong Khanh, Thien Toan, and Truong Anh Vu showcased more than 125 designs and accessories which added beauty to the clothes. The designers gained lot of appreciation and accolades from audience for their creations.

Cong Khanh's exclusive collection named 'Nong', had extensive use of zips on traditional silk garments giving them a fusion look. Bags, shoes and clothes in bright colours like red and orange brought a young and trendy feel to the entire collection.

Nhat Huy, who also works for renowned label F- House got his inspiration from cartoons. The colours and designs on clothes were vibrant and full of life. His collection consisted of 40 garments made from cotton, khaki and silk.

Phu Tan and Truong Anh Vu came up with casual and ready-to–wear clothing. The garments in deep cobalt and warm shades of violet mainly targets the young generation which likes to follow latest trends.

Thien Toan gave his collection a traditional and sober look by using colours like light brown, grayish sliver, black and shades of white. Toan has used chiffon for designing garments which gave them elegant and stylish feel.

The Vietnamese designers have a lot of potential but they have not gained global recognition. As a result, domestic fashion companies organize shows to provide a platform to local designers.
