Exquisitely embellished rose motif in Hansuhi receive huge accolades

An unconventional designer his inspirations have matched his creativity.

He started with a Japanese theme - Hansuhi – The First Sun, three seasons ago and then moved to Tamara De Lempicka's The Orange Scarf 1927 a painting which inspired him and last season he was In Search of Duende.

For Autumn/Winter 2008 at Lakme Fashion Week, Anand Kabra's ensembles were inspired by young love in an adolescent – Renato's Malena who is very man's dream woman.

Signified by a rose, Anand's collection had a dark mysterious quality with colours like black, white and clay sprinkled with scarlet, teal and ochre.

The rose motif was used beautifully on the textured fabrics that ranged from seductive silks to sheer organza with hand painting and embroidery.

Using the rose motif throughout the collection at times in a more modern line drawing form; Anand created a range of the most beautiful dresses shapes that included bubble, maxi, mini, sack, shift and smock.

Anand's line of saris were visions of beauty as the rose motif was created in embroidery, hand painting and appliqué forms with the saris dazzling with sequins or elegant in organza worn over frilled tulle petticoats that were seductively visible at the ankles.

The beauties were a long red/clay halter dress, a paper bag style organza layered skirt, shaded bubble smock with cut away armholes, sheer organza covers over sheath dresses, a lovely teal and while balloon dress and a halter teal gown.

It was a sensuous feminine line of beautiful formal women's wear which will once again be a great seller for Anand Kabra.
