Chico's FAS Inc reported that its March sales results for the five-week period ended April 5, 2008, decreased 15.2% to $162.1 million from $191.2 million reported for the five-week period ended April 7, 2007.
Comparable store sales decreased 20.7% for the five-week period ended April 5, 2008 compared to the same five-week period last year ending April 7, 2007.
Excluding the effect of the shift in the Easter holiday, the Company believes the overall comparable store sales results for March would have been down in the 18%-19% range.
For the nine-week period ended April 5, 2008, total sales decreased 12.1% to $267.6 million from $304.4 million reported for the nine-week period ended April 7, 2007. Comparable store sales decreased 18.6% for the nine-week period ended April 5, 2008 compared to the nine-week period last year ending April 7, 2007.
The Company is a specialty retailer of private branded, sophisticated, casual-to-dressy clothing, intimates, complementary accessories, and other non-clothing gift items.
