The country owes Scottish fashion industry accolades for its brilliant and innovative creations.
The annually held Scottish Fashion Awards is just one of the ways to award designers for their untiring efforts and contribution made towards the country's growing haute couture.
Christopher Kane won the title of 'designer of the year' at last year's awards and his breathtaking creations have been adorned by Kate Moss and Victoria Beckham. Besides, Jonathan Saunders from Glasgow, who has designed dainty outfits for Kylie Minogue also, received positive reviews for his inaugural New York show early this year.
However, despite such commendable achievements made by the designers in the recent and bygone years, the Government of Scotland has failed to give due credit and support to the fashion industry.
Government funding for the Scottish Fashion Awards has been cut short from 20,000 pound sterling last year to about 5,000 pound sterling this year.
What is required is a platform that allows Scotland designer to get international exposure and recognition and this can only be attained via Government backings.
