'Fight Against Diversion' at Texas Beauty Show

At the Texas Beauty Show on October 26-27, in Dallas, Texas, Salon FAD's booth will feature demonstrations by manufacturers, including Barbar and Kenchii Shears, companies that sell their professional beauty products only through salons and spas.

Salon FAD, a non-profit organization, was formed by industry professionals who understand the financial and ethical impact on revenue potential for stylists and salon owners resulting from the diversion of professional beauty products into mass retail outlets. In the Salon FAD booth (# 2001), stylists can learn how to support the "Fight Against Diversion" and see demonstrations by performance artists.

“The exposure of professional beauty products generally begins within salons and spas where the products are used in-house and offered for sale to clientele. When these product lines are diverted to mass retail outlets, salons and stylists lose sales revenue, as well as creditability and influence with their client base.

In addition, there is little incentive for stylists to recommend products that can be purchased at local grocery or drug stores,” commented Dixie Pelfrey, president and CEO of Salon FAD. “Ultimately, it is up to salon owners and stylists to create a marketplace in which to buy and sell 'professional only' products, as they have the power and the ability to choose and promote the product lines that will succeed in this industry.”

“Product diversion is a serious issue in the beauty industry and Salon FAD's involvement in Texas Beauty Show is important. They emphasize that by working together, stylists can make a difference in ensuring that professional beauty products are sold only through salons and spas,” said Steve Farrer, executive director for Texas Beauty Show. “We look forward to Salon FAD's participation along with the manufacturers they will host who support the 'Fight Against Diversion.'”
