RMIT University is Open on Sunday, 10 August – giving prospective students, family and friends a chance to explore all that's on offer from Australia's largest dual-sector university.

Thirty thousand people are expected to visit the University's City, Brunswick and Bundoora campuses, with a free bus service linking them.

RMIT Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Margaret Gardner AO, said Open Day allowed prospective students to experience their future in a way that could not be done online or in a brochure, with an exciting range of displays, information sessions and activities.

“The day will give prospective students and their families the opportunity to speak to current RMIT students and staff and get a feel for what may become their academic home,” Professor Gardner said.

“For many prospective students this will be their first chance to actually walk through the campuses and see first-hand where they could study and who would be teaching them.

“They'll also get to see the kinds of research projects undertaken at RMIT and be able to ask questions.”

Students will see RMIT icons that have made the news, from the internationally famous RMIT racing car to remarkable furniture-making and futuristic fashions developed by the students themselves.

There will also be displays and information on various pathways, such as apprenticeships and cadetships, where students can study and work at the same time.

Other displays will include Chinese medicine, aviation, workshops, and laboratory tours as well as information on studying overseas. The day runs from 10am to 4pm at each campus.

“Open Day will show the diversity of RMIT and the many pathways to knowledge, excellence and a successful career,” Professor Gardner said.
