The Offshore Super Series (OSS) Powerboat Racing Association announced that is has selected Sziols America as its exclusive eyewear partner for the 2008 racing season.

“Offshore powerboat racing continues to grow in popularity due to the excitement of watching these sleek, stylish boats compete in the most demanding performance races today,” said Ron Polli, president of OSS. “That is why Sziols is an ideal fit for us as they are the very latest in performance sports eyewear and provide the style and protection our racers, and our fans, demand.”

Sziols were designed in Germany and have found an enthusiastic following among sports aficionados. The brand has just recently become available in North America and is only available online and through select retailers.

Sziols America CEO, Susie Sandstrom, is an athlete herself and found the sports glasses during a grueling 500-mile bike trek in Germany.

“Like many athletes, I put my sports equipment through a lot. So it really has to be durable, enhance my performance, provide comfort and protection, all while looking great,” said Sandstrom. “Several of the veteran bikers were wearing Sziols so I bought a pair and was blown away by how vastly superior they were compared to anything I'd found in the U.S.”

Sandstrom immediately set out to meet the inventor and quickly locked down the North American distribution rights. The Four Seasons Resort and Club in Las Colinas, TX was one of the first stores to carry Sziols and is looking at rolling them out to its other pro shops.
