Bill Blass adds 'Luxe' capsule for fall

Bill Blass New York, the only designer label in the direct sale apparel industry, is continuing to reinvent the way consumers think about direct sale retailing with the introduction of the limited-edition Bill Blass New York "Luxe" capsule for Fall 2008.

Conceived by Bill Blass New York Creative Director, Jose Solis, formerly of Ungaro and Oscar de la Renta, the "Luxe" capsule is the only made-to-order line offered by a direct sale apparel brand and will include signature items such as cashmere cable knits with detachable fur, mink toppers and printed dresses and gowns on unexpected luxe fabrics.

Beginning August 1st, the "Luxe" capsule will be available through a select group of the company's network of sales "consultants".

"As the only designer label in the direct sale apparel industry, Bill Blass New York is uniquely positioned to extend the brand with a select set of luxury items that enhances the brand and speaks to women who are looking for personalized service and a shopping experience that's more akin to buying right from the runway than from the rack," said Rodney Hutton, Chief Merchandising Officer for Bill Blass New York.

"As department stores become more commoditized, we're continuing to build on the exclusivity and intimacy of the Bill Blass New York shopping experience, which is difficult to find elsewhere.

And because we sell direct to the consumer without retail mark-up, we are confident that items with the craftsmanship and quality found within the Bill Blass New York 'Luxe' collection would be priced up to double that of our prices if purchased from a retail store."

"Every season we design a limited number of luxury pieces many just for show like our mink topper which we produced last fall but the reaction from our sellers and clients to these high-end pieces was incredible.

Even the show items sold out immediately," said Jose Solis, Creative Director for Bill Blass New York. "With this kind of feedback, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to design a set of unique pieces with rare fabrics and furs, intricate features and luxurious details that make the 'Luxe' pieces so special."

The fall 2008 Bill Blass New York collection is inspired by the visually complex paintings and sculptures of celebrated artist Anselm Kiefer and the bold, graphic prints of renowned architect and designer Zaha Hadid.

With pieces ranging from $995 to $8995, the "Luxe" capsule includes:
- Broadtail with Fox Fur Sleeve Jacket
- Genuine Metallic Python Trench Coat
- Vest with Mink Trim
- All-over Beaded Mattelasse Dress.
