GDS (12 to 14 September 2008) will use its move into Halls 1 to 7 not only for a re-launch of its ranges but also to enhance the line-up of events accompanying the trade fair.

After all, innovative show concepts, trend installations, exciting events and high-calibre lectures as well as seminars have been very well received by both exhibitors and visitors alike over the past few seasons.

The trade fair is presented with a more fashionable, younger and more exclusive face. Market research results confirm a noticeable increase in the importance of GDS as a trend platform. Trade visitor and exhibitors rate both the fashion on offer and the trend guidance provided positively.

According to most recent surveys, the programme of supporting events meets with great interest from approx. 63% of international trade visitors and is therefore an important reason for their attending the fair.

Fashion Shows Three daily fashion shows presented on the stage of the Showcenter TRENDS ONSTAGE in Hall 4 will highlight the latest shoe and bag collections for Spring/Summer 2009 plus trends for the current season, each show covering one specific segment.

Be they classic, urban or exclusive – the shows will give trade visitors key impulses for placing their orders and trend information that does justice to the various lifestyle worlds.

Featuring the international guest star Kimberly Stewart at the opening event on the first day of the trade fair, the Upper Style Show will be the highlight of the show calendar.

Up-market brands and selected designers will be presenting their current fashion trends here with the kaleidoscope of collections ranging from classic prime brands to progressive high-fashion labels.

Accordingly, precious materials, craftsmanship, flawless finish and fresh creativity are in the limelight here. A premiere for this season will be the Hot Summer – Germany's Best Show.

In cooperation with DSI (The Shoe Institute) the latest women's, men's and kids' styles made by high-performing German shoe producers will be staged here in tune with the beachwear theme.

The GDS Trend Show in turn will give the audience an initial overview presenting high-fashion collections of international quality brands – be they casual or business wear. Finally, the Urban Fashion & Kids Show features street and urbanwear staged in a young and hip style.

These collections include popular lifestyle and fashion brands, sporty styles and iconic labels as well as genuine trendsetters.

Lectures, Seminars and Discussion Forums The editors of TextilWirtschaft magazine will inform visitors on the latest fashion trends from the international metropolises but also on the first tendencies in apparel orders – i.e. they will reveal what shoes or bags perfectly complement these looks.

An in-depth introduction to the trends for Spring/Summer 2009 will be provided by editor Gudrun Allstädt at the “Orderinfo” of TextilWirtschaft. (Friday, 12 September 2008, at 10.00 am at CCD South, Room 3) Y Trends is the only trend agency worldwide to specialise in young fashion footwear and sneakers.
