HDIL India Couture Week (ICW) that successfully wrapped up yesterday in Mumbai had some of the top most designers showcasing their exuberant and innovative collections that earned them high applauds. Among the participating designers was Anamika Khanna who pleasantly surprised the fashion savvies with her creations.
Anamika transformed the otherwise simple and low profile dhoti into a glamorous piece of garment. The cowl draped dresses had more focus on the cuts and drapes with slight hints of embellishments. Although, the collection was contemporary in nature they had its roots firmly in tradition.
This innovating collection comprised of cowl dresses, tunics, sarees and perfectly pleated coats. The colour pallet included bright and bold hues of red, beige, black and metallic golden to give a royal and rich feel to the graceful garments.
Extensive use of fabrics like cotton, chiffons, satins and georgettes were made by Anamika so that the outfits could get a proper and perfect shape. Fine and interesting motifs were hand embroidered on the garments, cutworks, embossed flowers and and embellishments using pearls were done on the sarees to give them a elegant look.
Stunning and ravishing bollywood beauty Sonam Kapoor walked the ramp for Anamika and left the audience overwhelmed with her simplicity. She wore a golden cowl-shaped gown with loads of embellishments on the cowls and zardosi and mukesh work on the top, which was especially designed for her by Anamika.
The fashion show was a big hit and as was anticipated, it once again proved the caliber and fine and deep sense of fashion that Anamika has which helps her move forward without compromising on culture and tradition of India.
