Welcome to Islands of the World Fashion Week! The hottest engagement on the 2008 worldwide fashion week calendar. This unique fall event, scheduled for November 5-8, 2008 salutes the body of work of both established and fledgling designers from island nations near and far, promoting cultural diversity and creativity in a stunningly beautiful setting.

Historic British Colonial Hilton in bustling downtown Nassau, will be a hive of activity for four days with a slate of dazzling designer shows, while spectacular opening and closing receptions will take place at world-renowned Atlantis Resort, Paradise Island.

Islands of the World Fashion Week invites the world to come experience the creative genius inherent to a lifestyle that is casual, exotic, and luxurious against the idyllic backdrop of celebrated Nassau/Paradise Island.

“This launch is the culmination of a dream that has germinated for about eighteen months,” explained Owen Bethel, President of Mode Îles. “We are thrilled with the prospect of hosting these leading fashion designers who are selected from the various islands of the world, in a visual and vibrant expression of creativity, cultural diversity and dialogue.

This will prove to be a culturally enriching event of global proportions.” he continued. Designer's registration and event information are available online at www.islandsfashionweek.com.

To qualify, designers will be required to produce a minimum of 20 garments or a line of clothing consisting of a minimum of 50 new and original garments with at least one garment reflecting cultural elements of the island from which the designer originates and at least on additional garment that underscores the designer's sensitivity to the environment or global social and environmental issues.
